The fabrics

Taking care of our ecological footprint is just as important as our mission to give back to the community.

At Edge, we combine style, innovation, and environmental responsibility by prioritizing eco-friendly fabrics. Our designs incorporate materials like Econyl®, a regenerated nylon fiber made from abandoned fishing nets recovered from the oceans, and Tencel™, a soft and comfortable eco-friendly fiber made from wood pulp processed with a non-toxic solvent.

These choices reflect our commitment to reducing our ecological footprint while supporting environmentally friendly processes.

The Econyl

This little phrase written on the label of our clothing is the result of countless hours of research in order to create using the best possible product!

Econyl® is a nylon fiber sourced from the ocean floor. Thanks to volunteer divers, fishing nets lost at the bottom of the sea are recovered, washed, and then transported to the Aquafill factory. It is there, in Slovenia, that the fiber will be regenerated and woven, then sent to our offices in Quebec!

Tencel

We also use TencelTM, a fabric that brings softness and comfort to our pieces.

TencelTM, also known as Lyocell, is an environmentally friendly material produced from wood pulp and a non-toxic solvent.

How is Tencel® made? First, there are trees: eucalyptus, hardwoods, or bamboo. From these, cellulose (a sugar naturally present in wood) is extracted and dissolved in a non-toxic solvent. This solvent is non-toxic and is 97.7% recovered.

Lyocell therefore has a low environmental impact, because it is produced in a quasi-closed loop circuit where materials are constantly recycled, purified and reused.

A circular fashion

Our fabric scraps are collected by our workshop to be reused in creative projects, used as stuffing for cushions, or even transformed into solidarity initiatives.

Throughout our production and future collections, we are committed to identifying new improvements to move toward circular fashion. And of course, we will share our progress with you!

Local production
